Phuket has a real wet season, and it affects the west-coast beaches more than most guides admit.
November to March is the dry season and the busiest, most expensive period. The sea is calm, and every beach in this guide works.
April and May are hot and quieter, with prices dropping.
June to October is the monsoon. It does not rain all day, and rates fall considerably - but the west-coast surf gets strong, red flags go up, and swimming at the more exposed beaches becomes genuinely unsafe. This is the season where the beach you chose matters most. The sheltered bays - Kamala, Karon at its southern end - hold up better than the long open stretches like Mai Khao.

Getting around Phuket
There is no train and no useful public transport. Plan on taxis, app-based rides or a scooter.
