Lopesan Hotels: What You Actually Get When You Book Direct
Quick answer: Lopesan is a Gran Canaria company that grew into five brands, and its
direct-booking terms are unusually consistent. **Every Gran Canaria resort we list includes an
airport service, early check-in, late checkout and poolside cabanas** as direct-booking benefits,
along with free cancellation and a free member rate. The airport service is the one that matters
most in practice - on an island where every arrival lands at the same airport 30 to 40 minutes from
the resorts, it is worth more than a percentage off.
Lopesan is not a global chain that happens to have hotels in the Canaries. It is a Gran Canaria company - it began building on the island in the 1970s and its resorts are concentrated in one stretch of the south coast, which is why the portfolio feels coherent in a way most chains do not.
That matters when you book, because the group's brands sit at genuinely different levels and the direct-booking benefits are consistent across all of them. Here is how the brands differ, where they are, and what booking direct actually includes.
What you get booking direct, across the board

The consistency here is the story. These are listed on every Gran Canaria property in the group we carry, not a selection of them:
An airport service. This is the standout, and it is rare - most chains list it on a minority of properties. On Gran Canaria it is genuinely valuable: everyone arrives at Las Palmas airport, the resorts are half an hour or more south, and a transfer arranged by the hotel removes the one bit of friction in an island holiday. Very few other groups in our data offer it portfolio-wide.
Early check-in and late checkout. Both, on every Gran Canaria property. Given that flights to the Canaries frequently land early and depart late, a resort that will take you at 10am and let you stay until the evening effectively adds most of a day to a week's holiday.
Poolside cabanas. Listed on almost every one. A small thing that is not small at a resort where you will spend most of the week by the water, and normally a paid extra.
Free cancellation, and modification without a fee. On all of them.
A free member rate, loyalty points and an exclusive direct rate. All three listed across the portfolio - the member rate is the reliable one, it costs nothing to join, and it applies whether or not any campaign happens to be running.
A free night and a room upgrade through loyalty, listed on every Gran Canaria property, plus a complimentary service.
On the top-tier resorts, add a welcome drink, a bottle of water, a fruit basket and a restaurant reservation service.
The honest framing: none of this is a discount. Priced out, though, an airport transfer plus a late checkout on the final day plus cabanas for a week comfortably exceeds what a mid-sized percentage discount would save you - and unlike a campaign, it is there every time.
The five brands, and which one you want
Lopesan uses brand names rather than star ratings to signal what a property is for, which is helpful once you know the code.
Lopesan - the flagship resorts

The five-star resorts, all in Meloneras on the south coast, and the reason people know the name.
Lopesan Baobab Resort is the themed one - African architecture, extensive gardens and pools, and the most family-oriented of the three. Lopesan Villa del Conde Resort & Thalasso is built as a replica Canarian village around a domed centrepiece, with a thalassotherapy spa, and it sits closest of any property in this guide to the centre of Meloneras. Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort & Spa is the largest - vast grounds, a long pool complex, and the most facilities of the three.
All three carry a wellness package and spa treatments, and all three list the full set of benefits above.
Lopesan Collection - the top of the range

One property, and the group's most refined: Hotel Faro, a Lopesan Collection Hotel on Plaza de Colon in Meloneras, beside the lighthouse it is named after. A quieter, more adult proposition than the big resorts, with the same spa and wellness offering.
Abora - all-inclusive family value
The four-star all-inclusive tier, aimed squarely at families who want the buffet, the pools and the entertainment without the five-star price.
Abora Catarina by Lopesan Hotels is in Maspalomas, close to the dunes. Abora Interclub Atlantic is in San Agustin and is the closest property in this guide to the beach by the distance recorded on its listing. Abora Continental is in Playa del Ingles, handy for the shopping centres and nightlife of the resort strip.
Corallium - the smaller, quieter option

Two beachfront properties in San Agustin, at the calmer eastern end of the resort area.
Corallium Beach by Lopesan Hotels is adults-only - worth knowing before you book, and the lowest starting rate of any property in this guide. Corallium Dunamar by Lopesan Hotels is a short walk away and takes families.
Kumara - the relaxed lifestyle concept

Kumara Serenoa by Lopesan Hotels in Maspalomas - a four-star built around a quieter, more contemporary idea of a resort, and a good fit for couples who want the location without the scale of the flagships.
Where these actually are, on the ground
All the Gran Canaria properties sit along the same southern strip, and the differences between the areas are real:
| Area | What it is like | Properties here |
|---|---|---|
| Meloneras | Newest and smartest. A promenade of restaurants, a golf course, the lighthouse. Quiet at night. | The three Lopesan flagships and Hotel Faro |
| Maspalomas | The dunes nature reserve on the doorstep. Greener, more spread out. | Abora Catarina, Kumara Serenoa |
| Playa del Ingles | The busiest and most commercial - shopping centres, bars, the liveliest of the four. | Abora Continental |
| San Agustin | The oldest and calmest part of the strip, small coves rather than a long beach. | Abora Interclub Atlantic, both Corallium hotels |
The short version: Meloneras for smart and quiet, Maspalomas for the dunes and space, Playa del Ingles if you want things happening outside, San Agustin if you want none of that.

The Caribbean resorts

Lopesan has taken the resort model to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, with four all-inclusive properties. The direct-booking terms there differ from Gran Canaria - free cancellation and modification without a fee still apply, along with a member rate, an exclusive discount and a special package, and each lists a wellness package, free breakfast, a welcome drink, lounge access and a restaurant reservation service. The airport service, early check-in, late checkout and loyalty free-night benefits are not listed on the Caribbean properties - so do not assume the Gran Canaria package carries across.
Guest ratings vary a great deal here, and it is worth being straight about it. Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort Spa & Casino on Bavaro Beach and Lopesan Caoba Lagoon Resort Spa & Casino both hold 4.9 - among the highest ratings anywhere on this platform.
Lopesan Serenity Bay Resort Spa & Casino holds 3.8 and Lopesan Splash Cove Resort Spa & Casino holds 2.3. We list them because they are part of the portfolio, but a 2.3 is a 2.3 and we are not going to dress it up. Read recent independent reviews before booking either, and if you want a Lopesan resort in Punta Cana, the first two are the ones with the record to support it.
How to book a Lopesan hotel direct
1. Find the property. Search Gran Canaria or Punta Cana on the dashboard, or click any hotel above.
2. Check the hotel's own page. It lists that property's cancellation terms, its direct-booking benefits and any promotion currently loaded for it. Benefits differ between the Canaries and the Caribbean, so check the one you are actually booking.
3. Join Lopesan's loyalty programme first - it is free. The member rate is listed on every property in the group and needs no code. Signing in before you search is the single most reliable way to get a lower rate here.
4. Click BOOK DIRECT. That takes you to Lopesan's own booking engine, where the member rate applies and the benefits above are attached to the reservation rather than to an intermediary's booking reference.
5. Ask about the airport transfer when you book, not on arrival. It is listed as a direct-booking benefit on every Gran Canaria property, and it needs arranging in advance to be any use.

Frequently asked questions
Does Lopesan have a promo code? Lopesan runs promotional rates on its own site, and what is available changes over time and by property. Rather than relying on a code you found elsewhere, check the individual hotel's page here - it shows what is loaded for that property - and join the free loyalty programme, because the member rate applies to every Lopesan property regardless of what campaign is running.
Is it cheaper to book Lopesan direct? Frequently, once you count what is included. The member rate is free to access, and the direct benefits on the Gran Canaria resorts - airport service, early check-in, late checkout, cabanas - are not typically passed through by intermediaries. Compare the total rather than the nightly rate.
What is the difference between Lopesan, Abora, Corallium and Kumara? Lopesan is the five-star flagship tier and Lopesan Collection sits above it. Abora is four-star all-inclusive aimed at families. Corallium is smaller and quieter, on the beach at San Agustin, and one of the two is adults-only. Kumara is a relaxed contemporary four-star concept.
Which Lopesan hotel is best for families? The Abora properties are built for it, and Lopesan Baobab Resort is the most family-oriented of the five-star flagships. Note that Corallium Beach is adults-only.
Which Lopesan hotel is best for couples? Hotel Faro for the quietest and smartest, Corallium Beach if you want adults-only and beachfront, or Kumara Serenoa for something more contemporary at a lower rate.
Where are the Lopesan hotels in Gran Canaria? All along the southern strip - the flagships and Hotel Faro in Meloneras, Abora Catarina and Kumara Serenoa in Maspalomas, Abora Continental in Playa del Ingles, and Abora Interclub Atlantic plus both Corallium hotels in San Agustin.
Do Lopesan hotels include an airport transfer? An airport service is listed as a direct-booking benefit on every Gran Canaria property we carry - unusually consistent, and one of the better reasons to book direct with this group. It is not listed on the Punta Cana resorts. Arrange it when you book rather than on arrival.
